Course Outcomes (COs) & Program Outcomes (POs)

Understanding the learning objectives and expected outcomes of our academic programs.

Understanding COs and POs

Program Outcomes (POs) describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation. They relate to the skills, knowledge, and behaviors that students acquire as they progress through the program.

Course Outcomes (COs) are statements that describe what students are expected to know and be able to do at the end of a specific course. COs are more specific than POs and contribute to the achievement of one or more Program Outcomes.

At Sanskriti College, we are committed to an outcome-based education framework to ensure our students achieve clearly defined learning goals.

General Program Outcomes (POs) for Undergraduate Programs

Our undergraduate programs are designed to enable students to:

  • PO1: Disciplinary Knowledge: Acquire comprehensive knowledge and understanding of one or more disciplines that form a part of an undergraduate programme of study.
  • PO2: Critical Thinking: Develop the ability to critically evaluate theories, concepts, and arguments in their chosen field of study.
  • PO3: Problem Solving: Apply learned concepts and skills to solve complex problems and make informed decisions.
  • PO4: Communication Skills: Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, on complex information and ideas.
  • PO5: Ethical Awareness: Recognize ethical issues related to their field and understand their professional and social responsibilities.
  • PO6: Teamwork and Leadership: Work effectively as an individual and as a member or leader in diverse teams.
  • PO7: Lifelong Learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
  • PO8: Societal Contribution: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional practice.

Course Outcomes (COs)

Course Outcomes (COs) for each specific course are detailed in the respective course syllabi. These outcomes define the specific skills and knowledge students will acquire upon successful completion of that course. You can find the syllabus for each program and course on our Syllabus page.

For example, a CO for a course like "Introduction to Programming" might be: "Students will be able to design, implement, test, and debug simple computer programs."

The mapping of COs to POs is also typically available within detailed curriculum documents provided by each department.
