Zero Tolerance for Ragging
Sanskriti College is unequivocally committed to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging in any form. Ragging is a criminal offense and a serious violation of human rights. We strive to create a campus environment that is safe, welcoming, and conducive to learning for all students.
Our anti-ragging policy is in strict accordance with the directives of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, UGC regulations, and the state government acts concerning the prohibition of ragging in educational institutions.

What Constitutes Ragging?
Ragging includes, but is not limited to, any of the following acts:
- Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
- Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student.
- Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student.
- Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher.
- Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students.
- Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students.
- Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person.
- Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, posts, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student.
Preventive Measures
Sanskriti College takes proactive steps to prevent ragging:
Anti-Ragging Committee & Squad
Formation of an Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squads to oversee the implementation of policies and monitor campus activities.
Awareness Programs
Conducting regular awareness programs, workshops, and displaying posters about the evils of ragging and the legal consequences.
Mentorship Programs
Implementing mentorship programs where senior students guide and support freshers in a positive manner.
Strict Disciplinary Action
Clearly communicating the severe disciplinary actions, including suspension, expulsion, and legal proceedings against those found guilty of ragging.
Affidavits
Requiring students and parents/guardians to submit anti-ragging affidavits at the time of admission.
Surprise Inspections
Conducting surprise inspections in hostels, canteens, and other vulnerable locations on campus.
Reporting Incidents of Ragging

Any student who experiences or witnesses ragging is strongly encouraged to report it immediately. Complaints can be made to:
- The Principal / Head of the Institution
- Members of the Anti-Ragging Committee or Squad
- Faculty Members / Mentors
- College Administration Office
Confidentiality will be maintained for the complainant. The college is committed to a swift and fair investigation of all reported incidents.
National Anti-Ragging Helpline: Students can also report ragging incidents to the National Anti-Ragging Helpline at 1800-180-5522 or email at [email protected].
Consequences of Ragging
Ragging is a punishable offense. Depending on the severity of the act, consequences may include:
- Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
- Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits.
- Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation processes.
- Withholding results.
- Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
- Suspension/expulsion from the hostel.
- Cancellation of admission.
- Rustication from the institution for a period ranging from one to four semesters.
- Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period.
- Fine ranging between Rupees 25,000/- and Rupees 1 lakh.
- Collective punishment: When the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment.
- Filing of FIR and legal action as per criminal law.
